Name a top class player that West Ham bought while they were still at their peak.

With the signing of Payet we have signed a quality player who is still at his peak.

We've signed enough big name players over the years but far too many arrive at the fag end of their career.

Anyway, Craig Bellamy was still decent when he came here.

I'd say we buy too many players at their peak, a lot of names mentioned had 1 good season at most and left us for nothing.

Tevez and mascher werent, their peaks were if they'd been signed from man utd/ barca....When we signed them they were far from proven.

Mark Ward was a bargain buy from Oldham who produced his best at West Ham. We could do with his type now( minus the inclination to become a jailbird of course.)
